Inclement Weather - Action to Take
If there is any doubt on whether or not the pitch will be playable due to the weather, you are strongly advised to follow the recommendations shown below.
You should not call off any match without ascertaining from the contacts shown or without the agreement of a member of the Management Committee. Should you do so, the match may be considered as an unfulfilled fixture and dealt with accordingly.
If the match is postponed by the grounds staff or with the consent of a member of the Management Committee, you must notify your opponents and the referee as soon as possible.
Results Sheets must be submitted for all postponed matches as laid down in the Rules.
Pitches Controlled by Southend Borough Council
Inspection of all pitches is carried out by the ground staff on the Sunday morning and the decision on whether or not play will be allowed can be obtained by telephoning 01702 442909 – after 9.00 am. A representative (one only) of the Home Club should ring this number if there is any doubt about the fitness of the pitch. If the match has been called off, the referee and the Away team shall be contacted by the Home club as soon as possible. If the match has not been called off but the referee considers that the ground may be dangerous to play on – frozen ruts etc. – he shall decide whether of not the game shall be played.
Pitches Controlled by Castle Point Borough Council
Inspection of all pitches is carried out by the grounds staff on the Friday morning. Home clubs are advised to contact the Office Manager, Jackie Potts, by telephone on 01268 882468 – between 12 noon and 4.45 pm on the Friday. If the pitches have not been called off on the Friday, the referee shall be the sole judge as to the fitness of the ground on the Sunday
Pitches Controlled by Tylers Landscapes
Inspection of all pitches is carried out by the ground staff on the Friday morning. Home clubs are advised to contact: Helen Chamberlen: tel. 01702 548525 between 2 and 4 pm on the Friday. Mobile tel.: 07770 561682 between 8am and 4pm – Saturday and Sunday.
Private Grounds
Dave Ford of Cupids Country Club has arranged for an answer-phone message which will be available from 8.30am on Sunday mornings – 01702 219069.
Clubs that hire their grounds from other sources should make their own arrangements with ground staff.
Notify The Match Results Secretary
If a game is called off on the morning of the match, for any reason, BOTH clubs must telephone and notify Peter King, The Match Results Secretary on the Sunday afternoon between 2.30 – 4.00pm. Failure to do so will result in your club being fined.
