Season 2009/2010 - 47th Year
Newsletter 2 - December 2009
Well, with Christmas and New Year upon us I was hoping that this Newsletter would simply be to wish you all a good time but much has happened over the last two months, the least of which has been the weather.
Having dealt with the last minute withdrawal by a Club days before the season started, you will now be aware that D & A Sports FC have withdrawn from Div 3, Wasps FC have withdrawn from Div 2 and Ness Rangers FC have withdrawn from Premier Div which has created something of a challenge for our Fixtures Secretary. The League is aware that Clubs require a certain number of matches in order to cover their expenses and where it has not already been decided that teams will play each other three times, it has been proposed that additional games will be scheduled after completion of League matches subject of course to pitch availability. Further information in this regard will be issued later in the season.
The Committee have been dealing with the usual Rule transgressions and Fine Notices have been issued accordingly. Unfortunately, a number of Clubs have not been dealing with these in a timely fashion and further fines have been issued for non-payment. Certain Clubs have now accumulated a significant amount of unpaid fines and these Clubs will be notified of their potential suspension for this breach of Rules. Suspension will result in games being forfeited to opponents and Clubs being further fined, none of which is to the benefit of the Clubs or the League. All Clubs are reminded that they must deal with Fine Notices and ensure payment is received by the Treasurer by the date shown in the notice.
The Committee have noted that a number of Clubs have failed to confirm fixtures with their opponents on the Monday prior to the game. It is the responsibility of the “home” team to confirm the game with their opponents and the Referee (if one is appointed) and this must be done on Mondays without fail.
On behalf of the Committee, I wish you all a Happy Christmas and successful New Year
Rob Pickup - Hon. Secretary.
P.S. PTO for changes to Handbook since September. Make sure your copy updated.
